Supreme and Nike are no strangers to reviving archival sneakers, with the tennis-focused Courtposite being the latest to receive a co-branded makeover from the NYC skating imprint.
Originally released as a tennis shoe in the early 2000s, the Nike Courtposite was initially met with a lukewarm response thanks to breathability problems that meant few players actually wore the shoe on the court. However, despite its teething issues, the futuristic-looking sneaker was found on the feet of players such as former World No. 1 Andre Agassi.
For Fall 2023, Supreme revamps the sneaker with a fashion-forward edge, arriving in three colourways including black and yellow, all-black, and all-white, drawing parallels to the cult-loved Prada America Cup. The collaborative shoe features a synthetic posit moulded upper with a double plated midsole, rubber outsole with a TPU shank, and a mesh tongue with welded logo appliqués on the heel.
Despite the sneaker’s sporting roots, we see the shoes worn in typical Supreme style with baggy denim and track pants. The NYC streetwear label has been behind some of the biggest sneaker revivals from the Nike archives in recent years. From the Air Max 98 to the Tailwind, each release serves as a soft launch for Nike to assess the popularity of a model and fuse it with some downtown NYC cool before it sees a general release.
Whether you’re sporting Supreme and Nike’s latest sneakers to win a match point or for a midday swift one, you can be sure to serve on and off the court with the Fall 2023 Supreme Courtposite.
The Supreme x Nike Courtposite will be released on October 19 via Supreme’s online store and physical retail locations, with Japan and Seoul seeing an October 21 release.
