Every year Spotify Wrapped psycho-analyses our listening habits and compiles a list of our favourite artists, which we generally proceed to splatter across social media. What we often neglect to consider, while wrapped up in our own personalised Top 5 List, is who the true GOATs of the music industry are worldwide. Well, this year we’ve compiled Spotify’s own ‘Top 5’ most loved and listened to artists; whether they made it onto your Spotify Wrapped or not, you won’t want to miss the best of the best.

5. BTS

BTS, the Korean pop group slowly working towards world domination, have made it out of K-Pop’s niche and into the mainstream. This year the group released a staggering 35 songs as part of their latest album, ‘Proof’, which were rushed to the top of the charts by their 41 million monthly listeners. With the lowest number of streams on one song being 65 million, it’s no wonder they found themselves on Spotify’s ‘Top 5’ list in 2022, and a global tour in 2023 will likely help BTS in maintaining this spot.

4. THE WEEKND

The Weeknd released his fifth studio album, ‘Dawn FM’ in January at the start of the year and literally went above and beyond to promote it, performing on top of a 100-Floor New York Skyscraper for the VMA’s. With 79 million monthly listeners on Spotify who are undoubtedly keeping his Disco-inspired tracks on the charts almost 12-months after ‘Dawn FM’ was released, it’s not surprising that he’s stolen a spot in Spotify’s ‘Top 5’ for 2022.

3. DRAKE

Drake hit us with a double-whammy this 2022, releasing two albums in one year which his 71 million monthly listeners devoured, gaining him a place as number 3 on Spotify’s ‘Top 5’ List. His latest album, ‘Her Loss’ has been a topic of discussion and a source of viral TikTok sounds ever since its release earlier this autumn, but was released soon after ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ which only came out in June a few months before. Maybe next year he’ll produce a hat-trick.

2. TAYLOR SWIFT

The Devil works hard but Swifties work harder. Taylor Swift’s 82 million monthly listeners successfully bagged her second place on Spotify’s list, largely due to the release of her recent album ‘Midnights’, which also took all ten of the top spots on the Billboard Hot 100 List. With her tour tickets selling out before General Sale had even been released, it’s difficult to deny that Taylor’s fans are dedicated. No wonder she’s come in second.

1. BAD BUNNY

Going three for three, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny wins first place on Spotify’s Most Streamed Artists List for the third year in a row. Bringing hispanic music to the main stage, Bad Bunny’s hooks are just too addictive to not top the list, and with 18.5 billion streams in 2022 he’s literally yawning at the competition. It seems no one can snatch away his crown… till next year?
