Following up on last year’s home-run collaboration with New Balance which saw a shaggy suede orange 2002R release under the name “Peace be the Journey”, Salehe Bembury has unveiled a second iteration of the sneaker dubbed “Water be the Guide”. Arriving in a blue suede with orange underlays and green detailing throughout, the colorway is inspired by the Havasu Falls in Arizona. Alongside the sneaker, it appears that we’ll receive another batch of clothing and accessories similar to the first drop.
Salehe has made a splash in the past two years through his collaborative partnerships with NB and Chinese sportswear label ANTA; the past two months has seen the ex-Versace designer scatter 50 pairs of his experimental New Balance Test Run Project 3.0 sneaker across Los Angeles in a scavenger hunt called “Finders Keepers”. Every day, we’ve been watching the chaos ensue on Salehe’s IG stories and have a laugh at people climbing up the sides of buildings to secure their rare pair.
Bembury appears on video, decked out in his collection’s kicks and apparel, playing a tune on some glasses filled with water alongside the sounds of nature and a beatboxer. The New Balance x Salehe Bembury 2002R “Water be the Guide” will be available June 25 for $150 through New Balance’s site.
