Only two years after Rihanna and LVMH came together to launch Fenty, the luxury brand is being put on hold.
The French luxury giant has stated that “Rihanna and LVMH have jointly made the decision to put on hold the RTW activity, based in Europe, pending better conditions”. Since the pandemic hit Europe, Rihanna has been unable to visit her Parisian team, in order to develop her brand. On January 1st, Fenty’s Instagram stopped posting, and in just a few weeks their website will reportedly go dark.
Rihanna’s efforts will now be focused on the other components of the Fenty universe, which includes the successful Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin as well as the lingerie line Fenty X Savage. LVMH further reports that they and “Rihanna reaffirm their ambition to concentrate on the growth and the long-term development of [the] Fenty ecosystem focusing on cosmetics, skincare and lingerie”.
While the future of Fenty is very much unknown, neither LVMH nor Rihanna have commented on its possible re-launch. We’re all happy to wait for an update, just like we’ve been waiting on the long-anticipated album.
