Rick Owens debuted his SS21 collection last night in Venice. The physical show took place on the steps of the Lido casino, complete with smoke machines and strobe lights inside the doors of the building. Models strutted in front of the imposing building to a remix of Donna Summer’s club classic ‘I Feel Love’.
The show itself was called ‘Phlegethon’, which is one of the 5 rivers of the underworld according to Greek mythology, and you can see the dark influences in the clothes.
In signature Owens’ style, the designer experimented with silhouettes which transformed the models into ominous futuristic warriors. The collection featured a large amount of black, a colour we’ve come to associate with Owens’ collections, but for this season the designer also incorporated bubblegum pinks, neon yellows and reds. Cut-offs were featured throughout the designs, and a mixture of textures and heavy layering created strong looks.
So guys, what did you think of Rick Owens’ hellish offering for SS21?
