Palace x Gucci’s begun their invasion, and we’re loving it. If you missed the collab’s takeover of Instagram this morning via some truly out-of-this-world campaign imagery, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s everything you need to know about the collection’s impending release.

Opening with a flying corner-store announcing the imminent arrival of our new overlords, Palace X Gucci’s video campaign isn’t just an ad, it’s a movie. Whether you relate more to the shocked onlookers in the opening scene, clad in chic business attire with gaping mouths, or the posse of party-goers dancing with an alien, the collection has something for everyone, from every planet.

Alessandro Michele, creative director of Gucci, has linked up with co-founders, Lev Tanju and Gareth Skewis of British streetwear brand, Palace, to create a collection that will have your eyes wide as (flying) saucers. Combining Palace Skateboards’ niche perspective on British youth culture and Gucci’s playful take on modern luxury, the collection is sure to encapsulate the best of both brands. And they’ve each got a lot to offer.
As seen through their campaign video announcing the collaboration, the collection aims to pull on both Gucci’s iconic retro aesthetic and Palace’s British roots, blending elements of punk-style, modern streetwear, and Gucci’s typical hint of Saturday Night Fever. Snippets of the soon-to-be released looks, which will be available to purchase via the Gucci Vault, feature aesthetics attributed to both brands.

Gucci’s influence is seen in the presence of oversized tailoring, luxury leather accessories, and the iconic Gucci monogram which makes its appearance on a triangle bikini top, whereas Palace leaves their mark through a vibrant strawberry-print shirt and electric-blue “Gucci”-emblazoned football shirt. It’s fun to see how Palace x Gucci both merges and contrasts the brand’s niches.
Whether you’re ready for the invasion or not, it’s here and it’s self-proclaimed to “send your brain to another dimension”. So, who else is signing up to get abducted onto the Palace x Gucci ship?
