MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon are back together again, fusing form and fashion in another infectious collaboration that moves beyond just sneakers, this time giving backpacks a revamp too.
The collection serves as a celebration of a shared design ethos and is a testament to the spirit of hybridity. The collection consists of a collaborative Cross Mid Trainer, which shows off a loose overshoe-style upper and exposes the toggle of Salomon’s Quicklace system. The hybrid sneaker arrives in muted navy and black colourways alongside a deep maroon with a contrasting white midsole.
Releasing alongside the shoes is the Salomon XT15 backpack reinterpreted in line with MM6 Maison Margiela’s revered design principles. With discreet front pockets, a stability-enhancing waistband, breathable construction and multiple storage options, this is the gorpgasm-inducing accessory your wardrobe has been lacking.
MM6 Maison Margiela was launched in 1997 as a nuanced reimagination of the wardrobe whilst nodding to the original codes of the Maison. Now, it is known for producing conceptual essentials using unique fabric treatments. As part of this elevated take on daily dressing, the label has tapped Salomon, another French brand that was founded in 1947, with a committed push of the boundaries of mountain sports by creating innovative equipment.
This is not the first time the two brands have come together, having first released a collaborative Salomon Cross Low in a black and a red colourway, with the latter getting a Bad Gal RiRi nod of approval, worn by the star during her Super Bowl half-time performance in February this year.
With our gorpy whistles well-and-truly wetted, MM6 Maison Maison teased another collaboration during its SS24 runway show, revealing an XT6 sneaker from beneath billowing trousers that looked perfect for those hungover Hackney Downs hikes (because, let’s be honest, you’re not wearing them to scale Snowden are you).
The latest instalment of the MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon collaboration is available to purchase from October 12 at MM6 Maison Margiela e-commerce sites and boutiques, as well as in selected multibrand stores.
