Sustainably conscious label Story mfg. and Asics are dropping a new collab, the Gel-Venture 6 sneaker, and to celebrate the launch they’re throwing a quilt-making project today and tomorrow (April 11-12) in East London.
The project is actually something that Story mfg.’s founders Saeed and Katy Al-Rubeyi have done before with their Community Quilts Project, which began in 2020 during the lockdown. This free collaborative art event invites the community to pull up for a little embroidery and quilt making (and don’t worry, no experience needed), and check out the new sneaker drop. We actually love to see brands bring the community together like this, and have a good vibes day with a wholesome and creative activity.
And the sneaker is so clean. Story mfg. has reimagined the Gel-Venture 6 in two gingham colourways (“Reddish Brown” and “Vanilla Violet Quartz”). The mesh-upper sneaker combines the British label’s signature craftsmanship and aesthetic with Asics’ insane functionality and design. We’re also vibing with the vertically woven gingham laces, they’re such a good detail. This is the first time the two brands are linking together, and the collab is 10/10.
