Matthew Williams’ eponymous label is coming to Paris Fashion Week

After going pretty quiet since he left Givenchy back in 2023, Matthew Williams is making his comeback into the fashion limelight with a new eponymous label that’s debuting at Paris Fashion Week.

Being both menswear and womenswear, the debut collection will be shown at the Seiya Nakamura, Paris from June 26th to July 1st, with a different approach to design compared to his work at 1017 ALYX 9SM and Givenchy which tapped into street subcultures - this time, the focus will be on material quality and production processes. To execute this, he’s linking up with his favourite manufacturers and suppliers from his 20 years in the business like a denim mill in Japan, a jersey specialist in the US and a handmade footwear workshop in Spain.

Even after so many years in the industry where he first made a name for himself as Lady Gaga’s creative director, Matthew Williams is still trying to refine his vision and take his time with his processes. He’s taking a slower approach to fashion, away from the industry’s pressures of so many seasonal collections to be more selective with what he actually produces. We can’t wait to see what he’s got in store for us later this month.
