Frank Ocean’s been extra busy recently – not really working on music (that we know of) – he’s been standing on business with his jewellery line Homer and his directorial debut. Earlier this year, we were gaslit into thinking that the artist would be dropping something soon, but it turned out to be a fan stunt. We’re not sure when we’re getting a new album from Frank Ocean, but we are getting a film.
For the past couple of years, Frank’s been working on his first-ever film with cult production company A24 (he’s set to write and direct). Last year, rumours floated that Ocean was allegedly working on the film with Taylor Russell. Taylor Russell had remained unconfirmed, until this week. The Bones And All actress has, apparently, just dropped out of the upcoming Michael B. Jordan film Thomas Crown Affair (being replaced by Adria Arjona) and is now set to star in Frank’s currently unnamed project.
The movie started production in Mexico City back in January. And on January 30th, it was officially announced that Rye Lane actor David Jonsson would take on the leading role.
We currently don’t know anything about the film’s title or plot.
While fans are excited for Blonded’s new creative venture, people are still sad he’s not releasing music anytime soon, one fan commented: “let’s just accept the fact that this man never making music again”. Another posted: “Bro doing anything but dropping music”. But, this is the best alternative to a new album, we’re not complaining.
