Last week, when Tyler, the Creator released his “St. Chroma” preview on IG, we were literally screaming in the office. The rapper hadn’t dropped anything in a while, so unveiling his new era with a brand new alter ego and hard sneak peeks is getting the whole world counting down for his full album release tomorrow. Here’s the timeline of what we know so far.
16 October: 1. st chroma
Tyler dropped his first sneak peek of the album on his IG – with the caption “1. st chroma”, is that the first track? The video shows Tyler in a brand new look, wearing a face mask, and followed by a dozen figures chanting “chromakopia”. Fans were hyped in the comments with the unmatched artistry, and the new pending alter ego.
17 October: CHROMAKOPIA: october 28th
Tyler dropped his 8th album name CHROMAKOPIA and black-and-white album cover, and his album website: chromakopia.com. Under the album title you can see: “All songs written, produced and arranged by Tyler Okonma” – biggest flex in the music industry, fr. The album cover low-key references David Bowie’s 1977 Heroes cover. And there are some fan theories which speculate that Tyler’s new alter ego emulates a character from Norton Juster’s book The Phantom Toolbooth called Chroma the Great. Chroma conducts the orchestra that colours the world each day, without Chroma and his orchestra the world would be black and white, just like the sneak peek video. We’re already obsessed.
18 October: CHROMAKOPIA Trucking Company
The CHROMAKOPIA website was updated with a map tracking two Tyler trucks, located at Tyler, TX.
22 October: 3. NOID
The first single “NOID” dropped. And it’s fire. Also, an interview from 2023 of Tyler resurfaced where he expresses that we should bring back dropping albums on Tuesdays instead of Fridays, because people get more excited and they’ll listen on their commute. Thanks for having our backs, Tyler.
23 October: CHROMAKOPIA VINYL
The Creator revealed his vinyl, along with three snippets in a promo video, allegedly titled “Time is changing”, “Find Yourself (ft. Daniel Caesar) and “Really Him”. But, multiple track list leaks have surfaced, but they’re all kinda different, featuring different artists (some mention Kendrick, some A$AP Rocky, Daniel Caesar, Frank Ocean), so we’re just gonna wait it out and chat about the tracks when they’re out.
23 October: CHROMAKOPIA: THE WORLD TOUR
Tyler announced that he’s going to be touring in 2025 with Lil Yachty and Paris Texas. Can’t waittttt. See you there.
24 October: The LA Listening Party
Tyler posted on his stories about a listening party in LA. It’s at Intuit Dome, on Sunday at 8pm. The event costs 5$. Tyler mentioned that he won’t be performing, he’ll be “standing in the middle of the venue lip syncing to the new sounds”.
25 October: New snippet
