This past year, Kanye West has had no shortage of media coverage. From his failed presidential run to his divorce from Kim Kardashian, West’s work was put on the backburner.
However, Gap Inc.’s CEO Sonya Syngal has assured us that Kanye West is maintaining his focus on the 10-year YEEZY x Gap partnership, initially announced in 2020. In a statement to Business of Fashion, Syngal said “I spoke to Yeezy last night and he’s very, very focused on this incredible opportunity”. She further goes on to point out the “very big potential” presented by West’s and CEO of Gap Brand Mark Breitbard’s work. The Kanye West and Gap apparel line is expected to drop in the first half of 2021.
The YEEZY x Gap line is reportedly not the only thing on West’s mind. The American rapper Cyhi The Prynce revealed in an interview with VladTV that West has picked up working on DONDA again, an album originally set to release in June 2020. Cyhi stated “I think he started working on [DONDA] late last year”. He continues by saying “I think around November, December, January comes around he kinda takes a hiatus—a vacation, break to get with the family”. Though knowing West’s track record with album releases, we won’t believe it till we see it.
