Here’s why Jay-Z called out the 2024 Grammy Awards

Jay-Z said “Grammys, imma let you finish but Beyonce had one of the best discographies of all time." Last night, at the 2024 Grammy Awards, Jay-Z used his acceptance speech for the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award to call out the Grammys for never awarding Beyoncé with Album of the Year.

With the support of his daughter, Blue Ivy, Jay-Z wouldn’t totally condemn the Grammy’s, saying “We love y’all, we love y’all, we just want y’all to get it right,” but made a point of expressing that Beyoncé deserves it more than anyone else.

To be honest, his reasoning was fair, given he pointed out that Beyoncé’s won the most Grammy wins in history, at thirty-two total, and yet has never been awarded Album of the Year. As Jay-Z put it, “even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work.”

Another controversial comment he made, before defending himself that “when I get nervous I tell the truth,” was that some artists didn’t even belong in the category they’d been placed in by the Grammys.

Jay-Z does have a point, although who he was talking about, we’re not sure. We’ve got a couple of guesses though, including Lana Del Rey, Boy Genius, and Burna Boy, who were all popular predictions for Grammy wins this year and were all deemed snubbed. Although all of last night's winners were deserving of their respective awards, a few of the Grammys decisions had audiences raising eyebrows.

What did you think of Jay-Z’s acceptance speech? The only thing we know for sure is that it was definitely giving Taylor flashbacks.
