After its first tease back in September, the long-awaited Gucci X The North Face collaboration has finally released its campaign video and imagery.
In a short film directed by artist Daniel Shea, campers are seen decked out in 70s inspired camping gear. The collection offers puffer jackets, dresses, skirts, shirts, hiking boots, backpacks and even a tent and sleeping bag. Of course, all the gear has been branded with the logos of Gucci and The North Face. Whilst the project started before the world went into lockdown, the two brands seemed to have hit the spot, giving its viewers the ultimate outdoors dream.
The maximalist designs contrast with the uniformity of the Alps mountains, placing the wearer as the focal point. While utilizing earthy tones, greens and florals, the collection also shows off bright colours and an abundance of the stand-out Gucci X The North Face logo, very much in Alessandro Michele’s fashion.
Furthermore, the outerwear collaboration promotes the sustainable efforts both brands have committed to. The luggage is made out of Econyl, a nylon fabric made out of recycled scraps such as fishnets and carpets.
The collaborative outerwear will debut on December 29th in Beijing, followed by the rest of China. The collection will be released on the Gucci site to the rest of the world in January 2021.
