Soldier unveils The Iron Soldier on the streets of London
SOLDIER ©

London-based artist Soldier has unveiled his latest work, The Iron Soldier. It explores the implications of being trapped, inverting the Iron Maiden’s tortuous spikes to become an obstacle open to interpretation – a danger to those on the outside whilst the soul inside finds no companionship, just loneliness. This spotlight on loneliness was unveiled in Bishopsgate, in the heart of the City of London. It is the first time the artist has used live performance, a technique that he feels is essential for his character development. The sculpture was an opportunity for the artist to explore a fresh medium and one that involved the artist himself. It explores the emotional turmoil endured by an immigrant arriving in London for the first time, and the ups and downs of navigating a new life.
