Formy Studios, founded by Formichetti in Milan, is not shy to collaborations outside the fashion world, some more outrageous than others. Earlier in 2021, he collaborated with SKYN – the best selling latex-free condom company, with an exclusive limited-edition pack and T-Shirt, designed with “Size doesn’t matter, the outfit does”, ironically accompanied by a horse with stripes and artwork by Underwork Studio. This month Formichetti has released his first AW22 collab with knitwear brand Avril8790.

Contemporary art and graphic design meet for Formy Studio’s first collaboration of 2022. The brand has taken a different direction for AW22, partnering with knitwear brand Avril8790. Founded by Maria Elena Sanarelli and Francesco Menci, Avril8790 designed a unique blend of luxury knitwear into the streetwear scene. Geometric motifs and graphic designs are still present in true Formy style creating a capsule collection filled with psychedelic patterns and jacquard motifs designed in oversized silhouettes, sweaters, balaclavas, shirts and shorts. Prepare to see neutrals and neon colourways; a blend of both designers is clearly present within all elements of this collection.

FIFA is a concept you don’t need to be a football lover to know about; although it is not often associated with the fashion industry. Domenico Formichetti, however, has creatively collaborated with the digital world of football and designed a virtual Italian football strip for FIFA 22. This innovative partnership is intriguing new creatives and designers from all over the world.

Psychedelic flames in four colourways make the virtual Italian football team stand out on screens, bringing an entirely new streetwear dynamic to the well known FIFA videogame. Psychedelic graphics are Formichetti’s signature design. He is renowned for his neon colour and graphic approach to fashion design, spanning a number of his collections. This particular style of oversized silhouettes combined with streetwear built his reputation as a menswear street style phenomenon, gaining the attention of a diverse audience more expansive than the Milanese streets.

The artistic geometric ethos that Formy Studios has explains precisely why the brand also collaborated with Italian Artist Marco Petrus for his SS21 collection. Both Formichetti and Petrus’ art creatively overlaps, although, among two different industries, it makes perfect sense as to why they decided to work together. Both Italian and Milan-born artists who work among geometric, graphic shapes. Petrus transforms metropolitan buildings into trippy paintings, likewise Formichetti with fashion garments. The inspired collection consists of oversized wardrobe staples designed in vibrant neon shades.

Formy Studios really know how to create a unique collaboration worn by Tyga, Swaelee and J Balvin, just to name a few. If this is the first released and it is only the beginning of January – we can’t wait to see what Formy Studios will bring out for the rest of the year.
