Moncler Genius, launched in 2018, is a project that invites different brands and designers to collaborate on innovative and creative collections, reinterpreting the infamous Moncler down jacket in their own styles and unique takes.
For Moncler Genius 2024, the brand is linking up with a star-studded roster of creatives and brands including: A$AP Rocky, Willow Smith, Edward Enninful, FRGMT by Hiroshi Fujiwara, LuLu Li, Gilga Farm by Donald Glover, Mercedes-Benz by Nigo, and Palm Angels. You might've seen that Moncler just dropped a teaser campaign titled ‘Born Genius’ which imagines the Moncler Genius co-creators as their 5-year-old selves.
This Shanghai Fashion Week, Moncler is unveiling ‘The City of Genius’ as part of Moncler Genius, bringing the creativity and innovation of the project to a metropolis of immersive experiences. Taking over a 30,000 square-metre space in Shanghai, ‘The City of Genius’ is set to span different neighbourhoods that will each showcase new collections and experiences designed in collaboration with Moncler’s roster of co-creatives.
Special concepts and collections will also be presented by Rick Owens and Jil Sander at ‘The City of Genius’, alongside the roster of co-creators. The entire project sets out to keep our internal geniuses - the imaginative, creative four year olds inside us - alive. Inspired by a study from the 1960s which claimed 98% of five-year-olds qualified as geniuses, Moncler Genius sets out to reignite the creativity that dies in us when we reach adulthood. As the brand explains: “The process of living and the constraints of growing up somehow de-geniuses the mind.”
