Only Dsquared2 can turn the heads of, not only the entire fashion industry, but the rest of the world too, and it did exactly that last night with its FW25 show, the 30th fashion show the brand has ever hosted.
Appropriately, creative duo Dean and Dan didn’t just put on a regular runway show; it threw a huge party for the brand’s 30th birthday in a show space designed to look like the streets of NY (it was a block party), complete with the hottest fits, a live music performance, someone getting arrested, and a looong guest list - when we say everyone was invited, we really mean everyone.
Dean and Dan had the full roster pull up to Milan for Dsquared2’s 30th anniversary show, with practically every major music artist and the biggest models all accumulating on the runway. From Doechii opening the show - and closing is too, with a performance alongside JT - to Alton Mason, NLE Choppa, Irina Shayk, Alex Consani, Amelia Gray, and more all walking, the party that went down on the runway last night was more star-studded than the glittering mesh dress Irina wore.
First to pull up to the block was Grammy-winning music artist Doechii in an army tank of a vehicle (that would’ve had neighbours swinging out of their windows to see wtf was going on). She stepped out in a loosely slung, off-the-shoulder slogan tee, daisy duke shorts, a jacket with a fur hood, and strappy heels. Slouchy, low-rise, loose-hanging silhouettes became a theme on the runway, as seen in the layered bottoms NLE Choppa walked in: cargo shorts, over denim jeans, over white underwear, all sagging low, and a fur-trimmed jacket to top it off.
Dsquared2’s supermodels appeared in slightly more elevated, seductive fits, like Irina Shayk who walked in a glittering, mesh, fishnet ensemble (paired Dsquared2-style with a fur hunting hat and khaki jacket), Amelia Gray who wore a skin-coloured, fringed glittering bodysuit worthy of Cher herself, and Alex Consani who appeared in low-rise leather pants and a thick black for top, with a long train.
Other standout looks included the rollerskating model who did a backflip in sparkling, silver booty shorts, Isabeli Fonatana’s side-slit gown, which revealed a lot (and we’re not complaining), and the many matching sets - Victor Perez and Bách in bow-ties and suits, and Kit Price and Colin Jones as modern American cowboys.
Finally, following spectacle after spectacle on the runway, the crowd of rappers, singers, influencers, supermodels, and stars gathered at the top of the runway with Dean and Dan where Dsquared2’s block party was in full swing, but not before a cop car swerved into to shut it down. Stepping out of the vehicle was actor Brigitte Nielsen herself, dressed in a custom Dsquared2 cop fit, who put Dean and Dan in handcuffs and shut it down.
But that didn’t last long, because then the design duo broke out of their cuffs (it was a whole movie, trust) and walked with Doechii to the centre of the runway where she put on maybe the biggest fashion month performance we’ve ever seen, welcoming JT to join her on stage. Dsquared2’s FW25 show - for its 30th anniversary - was no doubt about the culture. Celebrating all the friends and family of the brand, the aesthetic it’s come to be loved for, and the legacy it holds, Dean and Dan reminded us that 30 isn’t too old to put on the biggest party of the season.
