Doechii will make her Glastonbury debut this summer. The Floridian rapper—who has been anointed “the people’s princess” by the internet—will take to the stage at Worthy Farm for the four-day festival, which takes place in June each year.
The rapper will headline the West Holts stage on the Saturday evening. Unfortunately for fans who also have a soft spot for Charli XCX, the artists’ sets will clash, with Charli performing on the Other stage that same evening.
Glastonbury is a bucket list moment for most artists, so Doechii’s appointment is a testament to her meteoric rise and outsized impact on the industry. Indeed, Glastonbury itself referred to Doechii as “perhaps the hottest new star on the planet.”
The festival has also come under fire for being male musician-heavy in previous years, so the appearance of Doechii, Charli XCX, Olivia Rodrigo, and Raye is a promising move in the platforming of female musicians (who centre female empowerment in their lyrics) in a famously gender-biased industry.
