It seems like Ye can’t sit still. With two album releases already this year, and another titled “Bully” allegedly on the way, Ye - formerly known as Kanye West - now has another project in the works: “In Whose Name?,” a documentary with a supposed budget of 1 billion dollars.
Filmed by Nicolas Ballestros - a filmmaker and frequent collaborator of Kanye who was 18-years-old at the time of initial filming - the documentary has been filmed in secrecy for 6 years. It follows Ye’s ascent to becoming the richest Black man in American history, as well as his transition to changing his name to “Ye” back in 2021.
With an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the rapper’s life, the film will reportedly follow themes of, “corporate exploitation, racial complexities and psychological struggles inherent in the American dream,” per the synopsis.
Ye's documentary “In Whose Name?” will be launched by Goodfellas and Utopia in 2025 at the American Film Market, with an exclusive promo reel screening on 7th November.
Stay tuned for more information on the film, hopefully coming soon.
