Rapper Kid Cudi is expected to take the stand at the Diddy trial today in Manhattan’s federal court. Cudi dated Cassie Ventura, the prosecution’s star witness, back in 2011.

On Tuesday, Cassie’s mother Regina Ventura took to the stand, and testified that Combs became angry when he discovered Cassie was dating Cudi. She alleged that Diddy wanted to “recoup” the money he spent on Cassie, and said that unless her family handed over $20,000,  he would release explicit footage of her. Regina Ventura said she took out a home equity loan to make the payment, and testified that the money ended up back in her account after a few days, and Combs never addressed it.

P Diddy is facing a five-count indictment accusing him of sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy.

He has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking and racketeering and has denied all other allegations of misconduct levelled against him.
