Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie has been taking the stand at his trial in Manhattan’s federal court over the past two days. According to reports, the 38-year-old singer spoke of a pattern of physical abuse and recounted what has been dubbed by the media and prosecutors as Freak Offs:” days-long events whereby Diddy allegedly forced and coerced people into participating in drug-fuelled sexual acts and performances.
Diddy and Ventura met in 2005, when she was 19 and he was 37 years. In 2006, Diddy signed her to his label Bad Boy Records. During her testimony, Cassie said he first kissed her at her 21st birthday.
The Diddy trial began in Manhattan’s federal court on Monday, with the prosecution claiming that the mogul ran a criminal enterprise. They also said that three women (one of whom is Cassie) would testify during the trial, R.E. Diddy’s alleged coercion and sexual misconduct.
Ventura’s testimony is expected to continue throughout the week, while the trial is expected to last at least eight weeks. Cassie is currently in her third trimester of pregnancy.
If convicted, Combs, who has been in prison since his arrest last year, could spend the rest of his life in jail.
