A$AP Rocky trial update: Rihanna makes an appearance in court and A$AP Relli testifies

A$AP Rocky’s trial continues. The rapper and AWGE creative director is standing trial on two felony charges for firing a gun at former friend and A$AP mob member, A$AP Relli, in a 2021 incident.

Rihanna, Rocky’s partner, made her first appearance at the Los Angeles trial, sitting out of view of the courtroom’s cameras with Rocky’s mother and sister.

A screenshot of an alleged text chat between Rocky and Relli (hours after the square-up at the Hollywood corner), was shown in court yesterday. According to a TMZ report, the chat shows Relli accusing Rocky of trying to kill him, and Rocky texted back saying: “I tried to do what?? [...] Stop making sh*t up Rell”.

Relli testified in court on Tuesday, saying that he and the rapper were throwing hands when Rocky pulled out a gun: “He pointed the gun at me and said, “I’ll kill you right now, pussy”. Relli also mentioned that a bullet grazed his hand.

Relli testified that he got angry and pushed Rocky to use the gun: “You better use that sh*t,” he said. “What the f*ck you gut a gun for, pussy?”

“I was willing to die for my respect,” Relli added.

Another alleged text showed Relli telling Rocky that CCTV caught Rocky shooting the gun, but this was seen as a possible extortion attempt.

Rocky’s defence attorney stated that Rocky was only carrying a “prop gun” on the day of the incident, which did not fire real bullets. Authorities found no trace of bullet casings or a shooting when they responded to the incident. However, court documents show that Relli returned to the scene and gathered two shell casings he said he found.

The proceedings follow Rocky pleading not guilty to two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, and rejecting a plea deal of a seven-year suspended sentence, three years probation and 180 days in jail. If A$AP Rocky is convicted, he could be facing up to 24 years in prison.
