After releasing their inaugural collaboration earlier this year, Dingyun Zhang and adidas Originals have reunited for a second capsule. However, this time, on top of new iterations of the ever-popular Sambas, the Chinese designer unveils a brand new model titled “Kouza.”

Named after a native East Asian plant known for its Autumn foliage colours (cornus kousa), the shoe takes inspiration from Adidas’ Beijing 2008 Boxing Boot to create a silhouette that centres itself with the idea of transformation. By combining ideas of tradition and innovation with the ostensible design, as Zhang says himself, “the adidas Kouza embodies the oscillation between form and function while retaining elegance and style.”
Similarly to the Boxing Boots, the trainer features a breathable netted upper paired with an exaggerated heel counter atop an extended outsole and taped seams. The shoe will also come in three colourways: “Black-Black,” “Almost Lime with Clear Granite” and “Ash Silver with Green Earth.”

The additional Sambas in the collection both feature suede uppers and draw on the deft colour palette of abstract modernist artworks - tonal grey and brown with orange and white hits.
The Dingyun Zhang and adidas Originals' Kouza can be found on the Confirmed app whilst the Sambas are available on the website now.
