It’s CULTED with your 60-second RUNWAY RUNDOWN.
Hedi Slimane digitally debuted his latest CELINE menswear collection ‘The Dancing Kid‘ yesterday, “spanning eBoys and current skate culture.”
CELINE raced into a new era, leaving even Hypebeasts feeling uncool. Accompanied by Tiagz’ track ‘They Call Me Tiago (Her Name Is Margo)’, the eBoy models in TikTok-influenced looks swaggered down the lanes of a French motor racing circuit.
Slimane’s signature layering was exaggerated with a mishmash of bold prints, while thrifting inspired flannels, cardigans and skater shorts were converted into luxury wardrobe staples.
The launch was a prime example of how Slimane’s creative direction goes against the current. While the majority of the luxury industry took a streetwear direction over the past few years, CELINE have only just buckled up, but quickly accelerated, leaving the rest of the industry in the slow lane.
Slemine doesn’t just show clothes, he presents a wardrobe and aesthetic that’s accessible for consumers to follow, and potentially recreate. This season, Slimane reinvented a new runway aesthetic, fusing online culture and the way youth dress and behave seamlessly.
It’s a tribute to all the kids who danced their way through 2020 on TikTok.
