A$AP Rocky trial updates: new witnesses take the stand

It’s been a few days since our last A$AP Rocky trial update, so let us fill you in. A$AP Relli finished his testimony, and other witnesses have taken the stand. The county prosecutors rested their case yesterday.

Rocky is on trial for firing a gun at former mob member A$AP Relli in a 2021 square-up on a Hollywood street corner. The trial follows Rocky pleading not guilty to two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm – which could get him up to 24 years in prison, if convicted.

Relli’s testimony was unreliable and inconsistent, as he kept changing details. But what it comes down to is how much weight they give to Relli’s washy testimony, and whether the jury thinks his seeking money undermines him.

There’s a concern on whether Relli planted the shell casings he collected from the crime scene. Relli claims he went back with his girlfriend to retrieve the evidence, taking a picture of the shell casings at the scene at 11.45pm. CCTV footage shows someone at the scene at 11.10, which Relli said at first it’s him, but then retracted and said it’s not him, and the man’s clothes are different to what Relli was wearing on the night. There is no CCTV evidence of Relli being at the crime scene at 11.45pm.

In a huge turn of events, evidence from Relli’s IG shows that he was at a gun range in LA, shooting a semiautomatic, two weeks before the incident.

In one of Relli’s testimonies, he said he called his attorney on the night who advised him to go back to the scene to retrieve the shell casings. But the detective on the stand, and Relli’s phone records show that there was no phone call to an attorney on the night of the incident.

Pictures of Rocky’s home were also shown, where they found three real weapons and magazines, but none were connected to the case. Rocky made a comment saying: “Your honour, can I say something on the record please? My house is usually not that junky, you know what I’m saying?” The judge laughed.

A few days ago, Rocky called out the repeated use of the n-word in court – his lawyer, the judge and the Deputy District Attorney were throwing the n-word around. “Your honour, can we refrain…?” Rocky said on record. And the judge agreed on not using the n-word moving forward.

Also, can we talk about Rocky’s fits for a second? Rocky’s been putting that sh*t on. The man’s been dripped out by Saint Laurent on most days, with the brand’s team sending out press releases on which pieces A$AP’s been wearing, and it feels a bit dystopian icl. But the man’s looking clean af.

Rihanna was at the courtroom for three days this week, sitting with Rocky’s mother and sister.

The defense is now starting to call witnesses. A surprise defence witness testified. Wally Sajimi, an internet branding consultant who’s worked with both Rocky and Relli, recorded calls with Relli in 2022, and flew from Paris to take the stand.

The calls are crucial, because they hear Relli saying he was going to get millions from Rocky in a separate civil case. Relli claimed that’s not him, it’s AI. On one of the recordings, we hear Relli’s voice saying suing Rocky “was my gameplan all along,” and: “Once I walk away, when I get my cash, the case will get way weaker.” However, he did not say anything that could contradict his testimony of being shot at.

Today we’ll see A$AP Twelvyy, another former mob member, who was at the scene. And Lou Levin, Rocky’s tour manager will be the second defense witness. The defense has not stated whether Rocky will take the stand.

Rocky claims that the gun used at the incident was a “prop gun”.
