Italian streetwear OG’s Slam Jam has produced some of the best sneaker collaborations over the years. The upcoming efforts with the Massachusetts natives over at Converse may well be the best yet.

Luca Benini, the founder of Slam Jam, began the iconic store thirty years ago. The store has gone from strength to strength in recent years, though. There are now two stores across Italian soil, with an impressive back catalogue of diehard fans that use Slam Jam for their streetwear and sneaker needs.

SLAM JAM X CONVERSE CHUCK TAYLOR
The latest offering from the two heavyweights sees Slam Jam’s Benini roll back the years. He  taps into his post-punk style from the 80s. Taking over the Chuck Taylor 70. A reconstructed version of the classic Chuck, Slam Jam has drawn inspiration from not only Benini’s past but his passion for 80s American rock bands.

You will find the Slam Jam upside down A logo in place of the usual Converse badge on the shoe’s lateral collar.  The inside badge remains the classic Converse version, though, and highlights a deconstructed design thanks to the frayed outline. You can find the similarly frayed details throughout the creation of the upper, a look synonymous with the punk movement.

AN ICON IN THE MAKING
Both Slam Jam and Converse have been a consistent source of inspiration for anybody interested in the fashion industry. Bringing the two powerhouses together makes perfect sense, and working on the Converse Chuck Taylor is a match made in heaven.

The Chuck Taylor has stood the test of time.  The silhouette remains as relevant today as the day it was released. Slam Jam shares a similar story. The store progresses into the best streetwear store around each year they are open. The eye-catching design feels authentic to both brands, making the Slam Jam x Converse Chuck Taylor 70 an all-star sneaker you need to add to your rotation.
