As we enter the final leg of Fashion Week in Paris, the fashion world has been busy finishing off its collections and shows. Outside of the seasonal calendar, the industry has been working on collaborations, notably a Supreme x Nike sneaker teamup. The music industry has also been making moves, with Lil Nas X teasing the release of his new album and Rihanna’s upcoming Oscar performance. Make sure you don’t miss out on anything happening by reading your Monday Briefing.
CIAO MILANO, BONJOUR PARIS
Another edition of Milan Fashion Week has concluded. This season was filled with surprises, from Sunnei’s crowd surfing models to Diesel’s Durex condom mountain. To finish off the month celebrating creativity in fashion, Paris Fashion Week has just started and is set to give us a grand show, from new faces at Ann Demeulemeester and Nina Ricci to commemorative collections at Off-White and Vivienne Westwood. Stay tuned because Fashion Week is not quite over yet.

LVMH HAS ITS EYES ON CARTIER
The luxury conglomerate who owns Louis Vuitton, CELINE, Dior, Givenchy and many more top fashion brands is closing in on its next conquest: Cartier. CEO of LVMH Bernard Arnault has peaked interest in the Richemont conglomerate, which owns Cartier as well as Chloé and Montblanc just to name a few. Arnault specifically wants Cartier allegedly to expand LVMH’s jewellery sector, which for now is led by Tiffany & Co. Richemont’s owner Johann Rupert has given majority stakes in the conglomerate to family members and, for now, is reluctant to part ways with it.

RIHANNA WILL PERFORM AT THIS YEAR’S OSCARS
2023 is a big year for the Bajan singer, and it’s just gotten bigger. Rihanna has just been announced as a performer at the 95th edition of the Academy Awards. While the performance won’t be quite as grand as the halftime Super Bowl show, we can expect a tear-jerking performance as the evening will consist of Rihanna’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” single Lift Me Up. Make sure to tune in on March 12 to see Riri’s performance.

WHAT WENT DOWN AT THE SAG AWARDS
Award season is still very much in action, with yesterday’s Screen Actor Guild Awards taking place. A24’s “Everything Everywhere All At Once” dominated the ceremony, receiving awards in the Leading and Supporting Actor categories as well as winning the Cast in a Motion Picture award. At the red carpet, we saw Zendaya wearing a pink floral Valentino number while Jenna Ortega donned a vintage Versace leather black dress. Jennifer Coolidge also made an appearance in an elegant Saint Laurent dress matched with a simple black headband.

LIL NAS X’S NEW ALBUM
The “MONTERO” rapper took to his Twitter to respond to a fan’s question about his upcoming album release, to which Lil Nas X responded that it would be dropping “most likely this summer”. In the same thread, he responded to many other fans’ questions, including that he is still in the studio picking the track list and that the new album wouldn’t feature too many sad songs. Whatever Lil Nas X is cooking right now, we’ll be eating it up this summer.

MCDONALD’S TAPS NEWJEANS
McDonald’s is no stranger to musician meal collaborations. Ever since its highly successful collaboration with Travis Scott back in 2020, the fast food chain has since tapped Cardi B and Offset, and now K-pop group NewJeans. The “Crispy” themed collaboration, which has been teased on McDonald’s Korea’s Instagram, will be released on March 2 and will include a meal with specialised packaging, and maybe exclusive items and merch.

ANOTHER NIKE X SUPREME COLLAB
Following Supreme’s FW23 collection, the New York brand has announced its first collaboration of the year with Nike, which will revisit the Air Bakin. The basketball shoe, which was created in 1997, will see the Supreme branding on its heel tabs as well as an embroidered ‘NYC’ on the rear panel. It will receive two colourways, including “Black/Speed Red/Multi-Color” and “White/Amarillo” and will be made available on March 2.

RAMBALDI GOES CLUBBING FOR FW23
Rambaldi’s FW23 collection was an exploration of the stars. Titled “Supernova”, the show was set in the iconic Northern Italian club Cocoricò and played with the idea of revealing one’s true self during the nighttime. As the strobe lights illuminated the models, we could see a snakeskin jacket and a crochet snake motif on a sheer top, representing rebirth, a star-shaped cropped top decorated with hanging crystals and a sheer-top black dress paired with heart motif tights.
