In case you’ve been wondering “who are the designers of the future?” the LOEWE FOUNDATION’s finalists are the place to look. Shortlisting thirty artists for its 2024 edition of the annual Craft Prize, Spanish luxury fashion house, LOEWE is putting its faith in the future of sustainable design and the emerging artisans behind it.

The LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize – envisioned by LOEWE’s Creative Director, Jonathan Anderson – sets out to celebrate the value of craft in today’s culture, whilst recognising the innovative new visions for the future of craft. Selecting thirty finalists from over 3,900 submissions across 124 countries and regions, the competition’s final selection of artisans is a refined display of the most impressive works from across diverse mediums.

The competitions applications have included work from mediums such as ceramics, woodwork, textiles, furniture, basketry, glass, jewellery, lacquer, and leather. In addition, many of the works feature repurposed or recycled materials, with a focus on the transformation of the everyday, seen in rubber tyres and compressed wood (not traditionally associated with craft).

A panel of twelve leading figures from the world of design, architecture, journalism, criticism, and museum curatorship have the difficult task of choosing one final winner of the 2024 LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, who will be awarded 50,000 euros and, of course, the prestige associated with being the winner of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize.
