Last week, 1999 THE STUDIO, launched its summer 2021 capsule collection which is centred around a leather cross-body bag. The bag features the brand’s logo and comes in an unconventional shape, perfectly illustrating creative director Kenny Kamba’s objective to “bring back the beauty in the unexpected”.
Founded by Kenny in 2017, 1999 THE STUDIO aims to embrace and reintroduce the beauty in things that we often don’t appreciate and is “inspired by diverse subcultures and artists who dare to be different”. The Copenhagen based brand employs designs based on contemporary culture and art with their primary focus on seasonal, ready to wear menswear and womenswear.
The bag in this capsule, which is the statement piece, is in response to the post-lockdown world. Many of us will no doubt need a small cross-body bag for our trips to bars, restaurants or simply for a day in the park this summer. By the way, if you missed our shopping guide on the cross-body bag, check it out here (you’ll thank us later). The centre piece is accompanied by some other bold and quirky items such as a printed t-shirt and a blue knitted jumper. Kenny added a touch of smartness to the capsule by including a wool blazer, which comes in both black and brown. Both of the blazers are adorned with large letter and number embroideries, including the brand’s recognisable lucky number, ‘99’.
The capsule is now available on 1999 THE STUDIO’S website and on the brand’s IG store, with prices ranging from €53 up to €150.
