Kerby Jean-Raymond has been named as the new Global Creative Director of Reebok. His own label, Pyer Moss has partnered with the brand since 2017 so the new position comes as a culmination of an ongoing relationship.
In a press release, it was revealed that the designer will now “provide creative leadership across all design disciplines for Reebok”, and sneakerheads will be eagerly awaiting to see the mb direction that he takes the brand in.
In a statement Kerby said:
“I welcome this opportunity to help invigorate the brand with new ideas, while also focusing on instilling a sense of social purpose into our work.”
Not only will the designer oversee design, he will also direct Reebok’s newly-instated program ‘Product With Purpose’, which was launched as part of the brand’s United Against Racism initiative.
At this point, it seems that the only negative about this announcement is that we’ll sadly have to wait until 2022 for the first products designed with Kerby’s vision to drop.
But to fill the void until then, the designer just dropped his first independent sneaker for Pyer Moss. Called “The Sculpt” it’s a chunky sneaker with minimal branding. Could this be the type of sneaker we should expect from Kerby’s Reebok?
So guys, what do you think of Kerby Jean-Raymond’s Reebok appointment?
