It’s CULTED with your Wednesday NEWSRUSH.
First up, in an Instagram post yesterday, 1Granary raised concerns over Maison Margiela’s latest collection, suggesting that the looks were plagiarised from emerging designer Dimitra Petsa, founder of Di Petsa. The post highlights similarities between Margiela’s haute couture and Petsa’s 2018 graduate collection, from the material used, sewing techniques and silhouettes. 1Granary even highlighted Margiela’s use of the word “wet look”, as the term has been commonly used to describe Petsa’s looks in fashion media for several years.
In other news, a rare Virgil Abloh and Supreme box logo shirt has been listed for more than $11,000 on Duke’s Archive. Duke’s Archive highlighted that the shirt is so rare as it’s a “second print test” for a release that was “cancelled for production.”
Next up, Nicholas Daley fused reggae culture with martial arts for his latest SS21 collection called ‘Stepping Razor’. Daley’s full line is expected to launch next year.
And to end this morning’s updates, Apple has committed to going 100% carbon neutral by 2030. Apple CEO Tim Cook said he hopes this will “be a ripple in the pond that creates a much larger change.”
That’s all for this morning. It’s Sam with CULTED.
