Thursday NEWS RUSH Featuring Harvey Weinstein.
It’s CULTED bringing you your Thursday morning NEWS RUSH.
First up, disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 23 years in jail for rape and sexual assault. The sentence marks a culmination of a two year fall from grace for the producer. Weinstein’s case sparked the #MeToo movement, after dozens of women came forward to speak up of his sexual abuse.
This is a huge landmark and will hopefully encourage other women to speak out about such issues as for once justice was finally served.
Next up, in lighter news, Lee Jeans has launched a capsule collection of denim items that are fully biodegradable. The ‘Back to Nature’ collection features jackets and jeans that can be composted when they are no longer wanted.
In other news, Gucci’s CEO, Marco Bizzari, has donated €100,000 to the Reggio Emilia healthcare company, which runs local Italian hospitals. Marco personally donated the money and said in a statement:
“Our healthcare system, which in these hours is responding to the coronavirus emergency with absolute dedication and absolute heroism, deserves the gratitude of each of us, and our support”.
That’s it for today’s NEWS RUSH. Keep your eyes peeled for today’s videos featuring our top trends from fashion month and further updates on the coronavirus.
It’s Sam with CULTED. Have a great Thursday.
