Virgil Abloh predicted that streetwear will die soon!
In an interview for Dazed’s ‘The End Of The Decade’ Timeline, Abloh seemed convinced that the era of shopping new streetwear is ending and the whole unboxing a fresh pair of brand-new-smelling, silk-paper-wrapped sneaker-game will soon be over.
Abloh, for some the master of streetwear, is the designer that has hugely influenced luxury fashion, by defining streetwear, rather than being defined by it.
So, he’s definitely a source to trust, when he makes a statement like this.
I mean, isn’t he right when he questions “how many more t-shirts can we own, how many more hoodies, how many sneakers?”
Does this mean we won’t see people camping outside the Supreme stores anymore?
Doubt it.
But according to Abloh, we will swap fresh new streetwear for vintage!
“it’ll be like, hey I’m gonna go into my archive,” he said.
And people will start expressing themselves by wearing all the hidden treasures found in vintage stores.
So guys, ready to change your beloved streetwear items for some vintage DapperDan or Versace?
