Today in our new series we are diving into Versace’s most memorable fashion campaigns.
First up, let’s start all the way back in 1991 with this shot of Helena Christensen, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington for Versace’s AW collection.
Supermodels go hand-in-hand with Gianni Versace’s signature style and this shoot exemplifies that.
Speaking of signature, this men’s shoot featuring Rick Arango from the following season is classic Versace – the looks are timeless!
A silk Versace shirt and white trousers? Perfect fit for Younes Bendjima.
92 also brought us this sleek shot of Naomi.
Moving onto 1994, the brand brought out even more memorable campaigns. This advertorial from Versace’s SS collection truly vibed camp fantasy.
And this snap of some of the world’s most admired supermodels, reflecting the 90s, is pretty legendary.
Versace have no doubt had their fair share of celebrity features. Who can forget this classic 1995 shot of Sylvestor Stalone and Claudia Schiffer for the house?
In the same year, Versace Home also produced some impressive ads. This shot by Richard Avedon is a piece of art that speaks for itself.
Speaking of Richard and celebrities, the Versace campaign he shot with Prince for summer 96 is unforgettable.
Moving on to more recent times, surely we can all remember Lady Gaga posing as Donatella Versace for the house’s SS14 campaign. Gaga wrote a song about Donatella for her Artpop album the year before, but this shoot took the admiration the music icon has for Donatella to another level.
And Versace got more big names for Spring 18. The season was a tribute to Gianni by Donatella. The show opened with the lines:
“This is a celebration of a genius. This is a celebration of an icon. This is a celebration of my brother.”
The surrounding campaigns for the shoot featured OG supermodels Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Helena Christensen and Carla Bruni.
We’ll round off this rundown with a highlight from last year.
The Versace Home campaign featured social media star Augusta Alexander as well as a host of other male models shot by Greg Swales.
That’s all for this week’s episode. Be sure to tune in next Friday for more of History’s outstanding fashion campaigns.
