‘Vault’, often seen as Vans’ premium label celebrates past iterations of the iconic skater sneaker. This time, they’ve collaborated with cultural retail platform Slam Jam and artist Julian Klincewicz for a footwear and apparel collection.
The collection is inspired by Klincewicz’s childhood memories, playing with his toy cars in San Diego. Klincewicz’s aesthetic adds a touch of childlike wonder to everyday items, especially through his luminous retro-inspired photography. The apparel in the collaboration consists of a washed black jacket and trouser set, as well as three t-shirts, which feature images from Klincewicz’s archive.
Three classic Vans footwear styles are the highlight of the collection: the Slip-On, the Era and the Bold Ni. The slip-on adorned with a bright yellow midsole, with a print of a racing car, part of Klincewicz’s work. The Era is the most understated of the shoes, featuring a simple all-black design and orange laces. The Bold Ni’s are almost trippy in design, due to a mix of colours including red, purple, green, black and white.
The collection is set to release exclusively via the Slam Jam website and retail outposts on January 16.
