TikTok and Fashion now go hand in hand. Think Celine hiring influencer Noen EuBanks, or that JW Anderson cardigan worn by Harry Styles that inspired a whole knitting trend on the app.
But that all might be set to change.
After countless scandals and accusations of discrimination, TikTok is once again making headlines for the wrong reasons. In an interview with Fox News on Monday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo suggested banning the video platform over threats to national security.
When presenter Laura Ingraham asked whether Americans should be downloading TikTok, Pompeo said “only if you want your private information in the hands of the Chinese communist party.” He went on to say that the US government “are taking this very seriously,” and “are certainly looking at it.”
But this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of the app having security flaws. Back in January, cybersecurity firm Check Point reported that Tiktok allowed online attackers to get a hold of user’s accounts and manipulate their content.
But could we really see TikTok being banned in the US?
