While most of our feeds are filled with Coachella content, from mid fits to Frank Ocean’s tear jerking set, the world outside of the valley continues to spin. In today’s Monday Briefing, big brands like Givenchy are releasing new iterations of one of its shoes while Burberry extends its “Creative Expression” campaign. Aside from the festival, music is also keeping busy with a new release from Shygirl and a BLACKPINK collaboration. Keep reading to find out more.

ARIES OPENS ITS FIRST STORE IN SOHO, LONDON

For the first time ever, Aries opens its 4,000 square feet flagship store in the British capital today. Working both as a curated art space and shop, the Soho store will be host to rotating creatives as well as having its own Paperboy coffee shop. From new collections to archival pieces, the Aries rails will be constantly changing to offer its visitors a new experience each time.

SHYGIRL DROPS A DELUXE ALBUM

Following the 2022 release of “Nymph”, Shygirl has just released the deluxe version titled “Nymph_O”. The new album features remixes from an array of artists, including Sevdaliza on Shlut and a Björk remix of Woe (I See It From Your Side). The butterfly cover deluxe album also features new songs, such as Unconditional with Arca and Angel with Fatima Al Qadiri.

A RECAP FROM COACHELLA WEEKEND 1

Coachella’s first weekend edition has come to a close and just like every year, a lot went down. BLACKPINK made history as the first K-Pop band to headline the festival and Tyler, The Creator made a special appearance during Kali Uchis’ set. We also saw Billie Eilish make a guest appearance during Labrinth’s performance, unveiling a new version of Never Felt So Alone

DIOR REVEALS ITS DARING CAMPAIGN FOR GRIS DIOR

Celebrating its scent Gris Dior, Dior has tapped an array of international cultural creatives for its new campaign encouraging “what they dare to be, to do and to dream”. Shot by Mikael Jansson, the imagery sees the likes of Jenna Ortega, Maya Hawke, Fai Khadra and Orelsan among others. The accompanying video, directed by Bardia Zeinali,  also sees the creatives open up about what they are daring to do, from being themselves to risking it.

NEW IMAGES FROM BURBERRY’S “CREATIVE EXPRESSION” CAMPAIGN

As part of Daniel Lee’s new vision for the British heritage brand, Burberry expands its “Creative Expression” campaign. The British artist Kano joins the likes of Shygirl, Georgia May Jagger, Skepta and others in the new imagery, seen superimposed with the brand’s Equestrian Knight Design in Lee’s efforts to bring the brand back to its origins.

FRAGMENT DESIGN TAPS BLACKPINK FOR A COLLABORATION

Coming off their highly successful Coachella performance, BLACKPINK is keeping busy with a collaboration with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fragment design. Together, they have created an Interscope Records black Coachella 2023 t-shirt, which features fragment design’s emblematic lighting bolt motif. Whether or not the collaborative merch will drop online, available to everyone, is yet to be confirmed.

FLAN’S THIRD SS23 DROP IS HERE

The NYC-based brand FLAN takes inspiration from its city for its SS23 drop 3. Titled “In Vino Veritas”, the dinner party-themed collection’s final course features a purple grape coloured tee with the saying “The Grape Escape” seen on its front. The offering also includes a pink and white short-sleeve Dionysus button-up and a yellow long sleeve tee, all available for purchase online.

PATTA TAPS ANDY WAHLOO FOR A CAPSULE COLLECTION

Netherlands-based Patta collaborates with the Moroccan brand Andy Wahloo for a collaborative collection. Translating to “I have nothing” in Moroccan dialect, Andy Wahloo was founded by the visual artist Hassan Hajjaj. Together, the two have come together to create a colourful, motif-imbued collection that combines heritage and street culture. The collection, which includes various tees, hoodies and a bomber jacket, will be available on April 19 on Patta’s website as well as select stores.

GIVENCHY’S MARSHMALLOW WEDGE GETS NEW COLOURWAYS 

First seen on Matthew M. Williams’ SS21 collection, the Givenchy Marshmallow wedge is being reintroduced this season. Seen in blue, ivory and khaki green, as well as the classic black and silver colours, the Marshmallow wedge features a 110mm sole, which is now available online, with the brand’s signature 4G symbol. The footwear will also see a 75mm sole iteration come out in June, in a black and fuschia iteration.

TYLER, THE CREATOR SET A NEW HIP HOP CHART RECORD

Following the release of his deluxe version of “Call Me If You Get Lost”, Tyler, The Creator has just set a new record within the hip hop and RnB charting space, with the album becoming the first to top the charts in three different years. The first time was in July 2021, during the initial release, then again in April 2022 after its vinyl release, and again this year, after the deluxe “Estate Sale” drop.

BIG BOYS CUDDLING CLUB LAUNCHES ITS DEBUT COLLECTION

The Ukraine-based Big Boys Cuddling Club, founded by Yaroslav Lerman, is debuting its first collection with a range of embroidered tees as well as a large tote bag. Inspired by vintage designs, BBCC’s made in Ukraine clothing has been created with sustainability and a long-lasting lifetime in mind. The collection, which embraces self-exploration, is now available online for pre-orders.
