Tuesday NEWSRUSH Featuring Tremaine Emory’s Diversity Guidelines For Nike.
It’s CULTED with your Tuesday NEWSRUSH, dedicated to BLM support updates.
First up, Mytheresa is to establish a diversity and inclusion committee that will evaluate the level of diversity within its castings, collabs and overall brand portfolio. It will also donate $22,000 to the NAACP and the same amount to Campaign Zero.
In similar news, MatchesFashion is launching a black employees forum to strengthen the diversity of designers the company sells, by adding designers from minority backgrounds who have been “under-represented in the fashion industry for decades”. The brand will also be publishing an annual breakdown of the designers it supports by ethnic background.
In other news, Tremaine Emory has announced that he won’t release his Converse collab until Nike does more to bring lasting change, dubbing the brand’s $40 million donation to black community organisations as a “very expensive band-aid.”
Tremaine called for Nike to stop supporting the Republican Party as long as Donald Trump is the party’s leader, and stated that the brand must aid in defunding the police across America.
He also wants to see a report of how many people of color and women are employed, including transparency on senior positions.
