Tuesday NEWS RUSH Featuring Ted Baker’s New CEO.
It’s CULTED bringing you your Tuesday morning NEWS RUSH.
First up, students from the Royal College of Art have developed a fabric made from plants grown in seawater. This new fabric could be a more sustainable alternative to cotton, which can require up to 20,000 litres of freshwater to produce just 1 kilogram of material. The students are planning to launch a start-up called SaltyCo to bring their textile products to the market.
Next up, the debut of Jean Paul Gaultier’s Couture collaboration project has now been pushed back due to the coronavirus. Sacai’s Chitose Abe was the first designer chosen by Gaultier for the collab. The collection will now be unveiled next January.
In other news, Rachel Osborne has been named as the new CEO of Ted Baker. She will replace Lindsay Page who stepped down last year after multiple profit warnings.
Now we end today’s news on a sad note. Alan Merrill, songwriter of the classic ‘I Love Rock’N’Roll’ has tragically passed away from the coronavirus. Our thoughts are with Alan’s friends and family during this time.
That’s all for today.
It’s Sam with CULTED. Please make sure to stay safe during these difficult times.
