Gorp gang, hold on to your breathable base layers! Samuel Ross’ A-COLD-WALL* has teamed up with Timberland for a second Future73 capsule featuring a weather-ready GORE-TEX upper.
Future73 is an initiative by Timberland that tasks creatives with reimagining the iconography and legacy of the brand. As part of this rethinking, Ross focused on the beauty found in imperfection, choosing human methods of manufacturing over machines. For example, garments were hand-painted with a variety of pigments, overheated and distorted to make each piece unique.
This collaborative project builds on the foundations of the first A-COLD-WALL* and Timberland release, working on a premium 6-Inch Zip Boot made from regenerative leather in a sleek ‘Jet Black’ colourway. The forever-cool 3-Eye Lug shoe also gets a revamp, with a stacked sole and ripstop upper. A series of practical features accompany the pared-back design, such as a weather-resistant GORE-TEX lining and traction-grabbing lugs. A single piece of silver hardware found on the ankle provides contrast, while honouring A-COLD-WALL*’s visual identity.
The collection moves beyond footwear and into apparel, with Ross taking his intricate eye for detail to the Timberland clothing archives. As part of this exploration, never before-seen pieces such as the Timberland© x Samuel Ross Future73 Chore Coat in ‘Dark Sapphire,’’, Padded Vest in ‘Black,’’, Overshirt in ‘Rust Oxide,’’, Cargo Pant in ‘Black’ and Sweatshirt in ‘Forged Iron’ accompany a stealthy shoe release.
