It’s CULTED with your Thursday NEWSRUSH.
First up, a new organisation, co-founded by the editor in chief of Teen Vogue, Lindsay Peoples Wagner, and publicist Sandrine Charles, has been created to move beyond “cancel culture” to “accountability culture.” The Black in Fashion Coalition consists of more than 400 Black fashion industry leaders and will partner with companies to advance Black professionals and release a yearly index score measuring diversity levels. The coalition will officially launch in July.
In other news, Phillips is set to auction Jean-Michel Basquiat’s monumental ‘Victor 25448’ painting. Phillips’ deputy chairman, Robert Manley explained that the painting “references the brutality that Black people suffer in many forms and is also a reflection of Basquiat himself.” It currently has a pre-sale estimate between $8 to $12 million.
Next up, Fendi has launched its collaboration with artist Joshua Vides for its pre-fall 20 collection ‘California Sky’ with a campaign featuring Faith Lynch, Ajani Russell and Niko Traubman.
And to round off this morning’s NEWSRUSH, VETEMENTS and Reebok have teamed up to release a graffiti-coated Instapump for VETEMENTS’ AW20 collection. The sneaker is priced at a staggering $760.
It’s Sam with CULTED. Have a great Thursday.
