It’s CULTED with your morning NEWSRUSH for Thursday 17th September.
First up, a new biography on Karl Lagerfeld has sparked controversy in Germany. The text written by Alfons Kaiser revealed that Lagerfeld’s parents were both members of the Nazi party. After the repsonse to the revelation Kaiser told WWD “It was a very normal thing to be a member of the Nazi Party — that’s the truth about German history.”
Next up, The BFC has launched a new dedicated Diversity & Inclusion Committee, which aims to identify and break down barriers faced by minorities within fashion. The creation of the committee comes after recent events highlighted the systemic racism that is rife within the fashion industry.
In other news, Soundcloud is stepping into the fashion world with a new collaboration with GRVTY. Called ‘Pure & Wondrous Sounds’ the line was created to explore the relationship between music and fashion and launches October 2.
To round off this morning’s updates, New Era has tapped Helmut Lang to celebrate its 100th anniversary. The partnership is made up of takes on the classic 9FORTY and Low 59FIFTY caps, and they’re available to purchase now on helmutlang.com.
That’s all for this morning. It’s Sam with CULTED. Have a great rest of the day.
