Thursday NEWSRUSH Featuring K-Pop Stan’ Right Wing Hashtag Takeover.
It’s CULTED with your Thursday morning NEWSRUSH.
First up, to support protestors, K-Pop fans are flooding right wing hashtags like #MAGA and #AllLivesMatter with memes and fancams. The BlueLivesMatter hashtag became filled with memes of our favourite blue characters from Disney’s Stitch to Sonic The Hedgehog and we love to see it.
At this point no hashtag is safe, but the dedication of K-Pop fans shows how unifying the protests against systemic racism have become.
Next, Pandora has vowed to only use recycled metal in its jewellery by 2025. Pandora CEO Alexander Lacik explained “gold and silver jewellery can be recycled forever without losing their quality. They will never tarnish or decay”. This comes after the brand announced earlier this year that it would be carbon neutral by 2025.
In other news, Tiffany & Co. is moving ahead with its expansion plan in China, despite uncertainty over the LVMH deal. They have appointed actor/singer Jackson Yee as ambassador.
It’s Sam with CULTED. That’s all for this morning’s NEWSRUSH.
Stay tuned for more videos coming later today, including how black culture has influenced streetwear and the Prada-backed AI startup set to create the first ever live streamed 3D virtual fashion show.
