Thursday News Rush Featuring Kendall Jenner Fyre Fest Lawsuit.
It’s CULTED with your NEWS RUSH for Thursday morning.
First up, Kendall Jenner has settled a Fire Festival Instagram lawsuit for $90,000, less than half of the $275,000 she was originally sued for.
According to court documents, Kendall was allegedly paid $250,000 to promote the festival in a now-deleted Instagram post, but didn’t make the fact that it was a paid post clear. It was also said that she “intentionally led certain members of the public and ticket purchasers to believe” that Kanye would be performing at the festival. Kendall has denied any liability and the settlement is still waiting for approval by a judge.
Next up, following Dries Van Noten’s open letter to the fashion industry asking for a reset, the CFDA and the BFC have now issued a joint message following similar grounds.
The letter calls on the community to rethink the way brands and designers present collections and carry out day-to-day business.
In other news, Instagram star Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert is now the first ever company-wide creative director for Swarovski.
She has previously worked as a model, stylist and Fashion Editor at Italian Vogue and feels that this “new role is a natural evolution”.
That’s all for today.
It’s Sam with CULTED. Have a great Thursday.
