Thom Browne’s Narnian AW20 Fantasy.

It’s CULTED with your RUNWAY RUNDOWN.
Thom Browne whisked us away to a Narnian fantasy with his AW20 collection.
In true Browne style the show opened with eccentric animal characters wearing formalwear paired with hoof boots. The theatrical animals became part of the set, opening a large wooden door in the centre of the snowy show space, which the models walked through.
Models walked the runway in trench coats which from afar looked like camouflage. On closer inspection the patterning was actually, in the words of Vanessa Friedman, “pretty extraordinary intarsia landscapes.”
Suits and skirts were paired with quirky black animal bags and we saw everything from camels to chickens. Layering was also a huge feature of the collection. Jackets were asymmetrically stitched onto shirts and multiple blazers were added to trenches.
Ethereal music played throughout the show but was abruptly stopped. ‘Slave 4 You’ by Britney played in a nod to the singer’s iconic VMA performance… because, why not?
Did you enjoy being transported into the weird and wonderful world of Thom Browne?
