While you were spending your weekend offline, Monday has rolled around again with moves being made in the fashion and music industry. To ease you back into the week, we’ve compiled a list of news in today’s Monday Briefing, from Valentino’s efforts in creating Meta-based designer avatars to D-Block Europe hitting it out of the park by breaking a pretty big record.
Valentino goes full on Meta
It’s time to give your Meta wardrobe a makeover with the first drop of Valentino’s digital clothing. Now available for purchase, the Italian house has been finding new ways to explore new technologies and including its online community. For this drop, Valentino has come out with some signature Pink PP coloured pieces, as well as monogrammed looks and the brand new Garavani Rockstud ballerinas to deck out your avatar.

D-Block Europe have just smashed a historic record
The UK-based hip hop group D-Block Europe has made it to the top and aren’t leaving any time soon. With their latest DBE World album landing on the Top 10 albums chart, D-Block Europe has become the current record-holder for having the most Top 10 chart albums from a UK rap group. Coming in at 7 albums, the duo took over The Streets who hold 6.

Georges Wendell goes golfing for SS24
In 1999, Georges Wendell’s current designer Pierre Kaczmarek was born and French golfer Jean Van de Velde surprised everyone by becoming the world’s top player at the British Open, which is what Kaczmarek was inspired by for SS24. The collection itself features the signature W cutout shape, bow details, repurposed adidas pieces such as a mini skirt and short-sleeved shirt, as well as a collaboration with La Manso on some oversized acrylic jewellery.

J.Kim releases its first ever swimwear collection
For its first swim and beachwear collection, J.Kim took inspiration from founder Jenia Kim’s home country of Uzbekistan, titling the collection “Chilla” after the month-long heatwave that hits the country every year. The collection features black one and two-piece swimsuits made with the brand’s signature floral cutouts, as well as lightweight, breathable pieces to cover up.

Erick The Architect teams up with James Blake
While Erick The Architect usually produces for the Flatbush Zombies, for his latest single Parkour, the artist has enlisted Grammy-winner James Blake to work on production. An exploration of the melancholic feelings that come along with a break up, Parkour features Erick the Architect’s signature vocals infused with a tinge of soul sounds.

Maccapani by Margherita Maccapani Missoni is on its way
Margherita Maccapani Missoni, granddaughter of Missoni’s founders, is launching her own brand called Maccapani exclusively at Browns on July 19. Described by the designer as “easy, versatile and feminine”, Maccapani captures a youthful energy, merging luxury fashion heritage and streetwear.

PLEASURES & Hat and Beard Press’ collab is merging fashion, music & art
PLEASURES isn’t just a clothing brand, having a hold on today’s youth culture, being largely involved in the music sphere. This latest collab is just a testament of that fact, linking up with Hat and Beard Press to create a limited-edition Meditations on Crime book and LP box set. To accompany this release, PLEASURES is also coming out with a John Dillinger graphic tee with artwork by Raymond Pettibon.

Nike is giving Barbiecore
This Barbie is a runner, trackstar and Nike athlete… sort of. The Barbiecore wave that has hit us all harder than a tornado has seen every brand and product given a pink makeover, and Nike is the latest addition. While it’s not an official collab, Nike has perfectly timed the release of these, just a few days ahead of the film hitting cinemas worldwide. The new Air Max Scorpion is seen in a baby-pink Flyknit upper, while the sole sports the bubblegum pink colour, with decorative star details found knitted on the Swoosh.

Zack Bia is starting his music career
Zack Bia first came into the limelight for being a club promoter and now he could become the paid artist inside the club. Titled Learn To Fly, Bia has just released his debut album, making his introduction to the world of music through originally-produced songs. With cover art created by VERDY, the album is loaded with big names, with features that include JID, Lil Yachty and Don Toliver.
