Milan Fashion Week has just ended and next up is Paris. With the most anticipated show being Pharrell’s debut at Louis Vuitton, we’ve also got some big names showing like Rick Owens, Issey Miyake and Loewe. In other news, we’ve got a Dr. Martens collab with NTS that is reinterpreting a classic shoe and another Stüssy collab with Birkenstock that’s giving texture. Keep reading to get your full Monday Briefing fix.

MILAN FASHION WEEK JUST ENDED

Today marks the last day of Milan Fashion Week, with Giorgio Armani and Zegna having just shown their own SS24 collection. The Italian city gave us some of the biggest menswear shows of the whole of Fashion Week, including Prada with its slime-covered runway and Valentino, which took over a university’s grounds. We also saw the LVMH Karl Lagerfeld prize winner this year Magliano and JORDANLUCA step it up a notch.

AND PARIS FASHION WEEK IS JUST ABOUT TO KICK OFF

Two down, one more to go. Closing off this season of Men’s Fashion Week is Paris, which will be host to some pretty big names. The week starts off with Pharrell’s debut at Louis Vuitton, which is without a doubt the most anticipated event of the entire week. We’ve also got the regular Paris showers like Rick Owens, Issey Miyake, Givenchy, Loewe and a whole bunch more.

THE DR. MARTENS X NTS COLLAB REIMAGINES THE OXFORD SHOE

Dr. Martens and NTS share a core belief of anti-mainstream, which is why this collaboration just makes sense. The British footwear brand has been dressing 6 decades of subcultures, while the radio station and music hub has been pushing total music freedom since 2011, and now the two have come together to subvert a classic shoe. The cult 1461 Smooth Leather Oxford shoe has been rethought with a neon-green bold graphic that reads “Don’t Assume”, which will be launching on June 22.

MCM ENTERS A NEW ERA FOR SS24

The German luxury house just recently went through a rebrand, with a bunch of new faces joining the brand, ready to shake things up. For SS24, things were shaken. Inspired by its heritage and bringing it into the future, the new collection was titled “Made for Movement” and focuses on a travel-ready, sportswear cityscape wardrobe. We also saw some strong tailored jackets and coats, as well as a strong array of accessories with a reimagined MCM logo.

VERDY IS COMING OUT WITH A SHAMPOO SET

The creative director behind Girls Don’t Cry and Wasted Youth, and now artistic director of BLACKPINK’s ongoing world tour, VERDY is coming up with a rogue but pretty iconic collab. Working with MARO, the two are coming out with a shampoo set. Found in a pizza-style cardboard box, the product is decorated with a cartoon cat drawn by VERDY himself. Priced at ¥19,800, the set will be launching on VERDY’s Gift Shop on July 8.

FUCKING AWESOME GOES GLITZY GLAM WITH HUMBERTO LEON

Launching its “Rhinestone” collection, Fucking Awesome turns to close friend Humberto Leon for a, you guessed it, rhinestone-filled collab capsule collection. The bedazzled treatment is seen on tees, hoodies, and jorts, spelling out the brand’s logo. In honour of Pride month, 20% of all proceeds made from the collection, which will be sold at Fucking Awesome’s New York and Los Angeles stores, will be donated to the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

NEWJEANS HAVE ANNOUNCED THE DROP OF THEIR SECOND EP

K-pop supergroup NewJeans just took to their Instagram to announce their second EP called “Get Up”. The EP is set to land in July, available for pre-order on July 7, and if that post is anything to go by, we can expect some 8-bit Powerpuff Girl-inspired aesthetics.

THE IDOL IS SUPPOSEDLY WAVING GOODBYE TO ITS SEASON 2 RENEWAL

Surprise, surprise, HBO’s “The Idol” is probably not getting renewed for a second season. While the news is not yet confirmed, the whispers are loud. The polarising show created by The Weeknd and Sam Levinson has been racking up bad reviews, even before it was actually released, and with every new episode that drops, the online bashing keeps getting worse. With little demand from viewers to see more, it’s very likely that “The Idol” will remain a one-season show.

THESE NEW BIRKENSTOCK ARE GIVING US TEXTURE

The mules have been taking over the footwear scene in the past few months and Birkenstock Boston Clog has become the frontrunner, specifically the Stüssy collab ones. Instant sellouts, Birkenstock are now blessing us with a new drop in a corduroy style, currently available on Birkenstock’s website but odds are, not for very long.
