For his latest, outstanding offering for Fendi, Kim Jones ditched the logo-centricity of last season, opting instead for a precious, feminine edit of sleek and sophisticated vestments to take you from the boardroom to the ballroom.
From the minute Bella Hadid started to sashay down the runway clad in a pale translucent shift with a matching fur jacket and sage green evening gloves, it was clear this wasn’t like Jones’ precious work for the heritage brand. Under the stone arches of the Milanese hall, blush pinks and earthy tones provided a pacifying feel while tart crimson hues boldly popped up taking the form of bags, accent seams and ultra-soft knit gloves. Luscious furs added that generous level of glamour Fendi is so known for, and in a big way.
Elsewhere, elegantly draped sensual mesh slips revealed high hip lingerie while leather corsets, gingham hot pants, navy blue suits and caramel co-ords brought the heat. Indigo denim and beige blazers were commercially minded because this was an edit destined to be donned and adored.

As for the accessories? This time around, Jones brought mini sunnies back into the limelight – it was so 2018. There were also knee-hight monogram boots and pointed toe stilettos, but it was the cosy armwear that was really made for the winter weather.
The show’s closing look steered away from the office-ready get-ups that functioned as the beating heart of the collection, leaning back into the dainty looks that opened. Full of frills and perfectly pretty, it came in the form of a chiffon gown with a low v-neckline and a unique chainmail print all over, paired with a fluffy, cropped coat, a shiny metallic handbag and once again, the sage gloves.
As ever, Jones’ sartorial expertise and excellent design ideas were demonstrated from start to finish, working their way into each fluid frock that whispered as the models walked, and every smart suit made for the modern woman. The collection serves perhaps as the beginning of a new era for Jones as he redefines the label as his own. Keep your eyes peeled, this year is for Fendi.
