The 2020 MTV EMA’s Were A Serotonin Filled Singalong.
The MTV European Music Awards took place last night across the world, as social distancing forced musicians to pre-record their sets, with performances from London, Canada and Los Angeles. However, that didn’t diminish their enthusiasm or their ability. Stunning performances from British musicians like Little Mix, YUNGBLUD and Sam Smith got the virtual audience up on their feet, while BTS and Alicia Keys delivered amazing sets on the other side of the globe.
Little Mix were the hosts of the pre-recorded ceremony, however, they were missing their fourth member Jesy Nelson due to illness. Among the celebrity special guests were supermodel Winnie Harlow, F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton and Rita Ora.
The main winners of the MTV EMA’s were the usual suspects, with Lady Gaga winning Best Artist and BTS winning Best Group. However, although the MTV Awards don’t usually stray too far from the mainstream, there were also some interesting winners yesterday. The Best Video award was given to DJ Khaled for his Justin Bieber filled music video ‘POPSTAR’. Meanwhile thanks to her non-stop bangers and fame on TikTok, Doja Cat took home the Best New artist. One of the more unexpected wins was Cardi B being awarded Best Hip Hop, the first time she has won the award at the MTV EMA’s.
